Hi,

I'm looking for a piece of software that will play a wav file when you
press a key on the keyboard. It needs to have the ability to have at
least four sounds loaded at a time, using a different key for each.
It must be as simple as pressing a key and a sound plays.

We're using this for sound effects at a company meeting, where we can
gong an idea, cheer an idea, or have crickets chirp, so I need a way
to quickly launch the sounds from a keypress.

We're running Windows XP, and this needs to not require a specific
soundcard or any hardware beyond that of a PC (i.e. no external
hardware sound board attachments)

Thanks for your help.

Chris

Hello Chris,

Below you will find a few software programs that should meet your
needs. No additional hardware is required.

Sounding Keyboard and Mouse 2.13

This program will play sounds when you use the mouse or keyboard.

?Sounding Keyboard and Mouse lets you hear magic sound when you press
keys or click mouse. The program allows you to hear the sound or the
words, which you want to hear after your typing or clicking. If the
Microsoft Speech API and TTS Engine have been installed on your
computer, the program can vocalize the text you are typing at the
completion of each character or each word or each sentence. You can
set MIDI note or wave file to every key on your keyboard.?

Noisy Keyboard v3.0

?Noisy Keyboard is a tiny little utility that lets you assign sounds
to your every keystroke. For example, one that plays when you hit the
spacebar, another that's heard when you touch the Enter key, and a
third that's played when any other key is pressed. The idea is to
recreate that warm and fuzzy sensation of typing on an old Remington
portable. The setup program installs the sound events in the Windows
Control Panel/Sounds module, so you can quickly modify the sounds that
are placed. A system tray icon lets you mute the sound when you need
to.?
