There seems to discrepencies to the exact date of the name change. According to the official WiKi for Mumbai, the name changed in 1995. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mumbai However, there seem to be different accounts which put it at 1997 by an act of the Indian parliament. http://theory.tifr.res.in/bombay/faq.html I would like to see a 2nd verification of the date to answer this question for sure. |
