Using Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Professional and the latest version of Internet Explorer. The Adobe PDF toolbar plugin for internet explorer 6.0 has suddenly stopped working. It is of tremendous utility when working and I do not know how to restore it to operation. The plugin appears on the IE toolbar and the drop-down options are accessible, but when an option (such as "Print Web Page") is selected, nothing happens. How can I restore the Adove PDF toolbar plugin to life? | |

Could the adobe print driver be corrupt? Can you check your printer setting (control panel|printers|...) and try to print a test page to acrobat? Or go into explorer and select File|print... and pick the abobe printer and see if it works. If it doesn't work, then the printer driver needs to be re-installed, as it may stay behind when the software is removed. Do a remove printer then go to the Adobe set-up and re-install. |

The test page printed to Acrobat OK, I also printed a Word document to Acrobat and this worked too. The problem is perplexing and I wouldn't even worry about it except that the Adobe PDF toolbar in IE is such a useful tool that I (used to) use many times a day. |

does it hang when you select the button or just not do anything? it sounds like a registry thing. if you are comfortable looking in the registry do a search for the AA toolbar and that the links are correct. Maybe the paths got changed. |

I suggest: 1. backup all of your important/personal documents. 2. Create a restore point. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/systemrestore.mspx 3. Restore to a previous restore point when you know the PDF toolbar was functioning. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q306084 4. Check if the PDF toolbar works. |

Dear Webravi-ga, When the button is selected, nothing happens - the computer does not hang. There is no message, just nothing happens. Thanks, jumpercable |

Sorry for the delay in posting. There are so many things I would like you to try. Can you please try the following? FIRST: go to task manager and check if any adobe related processes are running (includin the agent). Kill them all and then try to re-printthrough ie 6. SECOND: ---note that altering the registry can be very dangerous. always make a bcak-up---- in the registry (Start|run|regedit) search for the folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARErinter\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions There will be a garbled text, but select each one and check in the right pane for the adobe printer entry. Check to see if the path is correct. |

The one thing I have known to fix many Adobe issues is to uninstall and reinstall but during re-install choose "Custom" installation. Make sure that the items you need are selected and complete. Has always been a perfect fix for me. Maybe try this? |
