Series of questions related to automotive parts manufacturing and
automotive products recalls:
Specific to OEM's, NOT the automobile manufacturer - ie Acme Ball
Bearings, not Chrysler.
1: In North America (split between US and Canada) how many OEM
automotive parts manufacturers are there? - we are currently
estimating in the neighborhood of 12,000
2: How many recalls occur in a year on average over the last 10 years.
Again, specific to an Automotive part that would ultimately fall back
on the OEM to replace or repair.
3: What is the average cost per vehicle for these recalls to be either
repaired or replaced.
4: Average number of parts manufactured in each "batch" across the
universe of OEM's and parts included in this series of questions.
5: Number of batches involved in each recall. ie, is it usually
limited to a single batch, or do the problems continue for multiple
batches before they are discovered and corrected.
