Question ID: 548765
I currently live in the UK and one morning I noticed I had a missed
call on my cell phone. The call was from a number I did not recognise
and it appeared to orginate from the US (the number was +1634227xxx).
In the past when people have called from the US caller ID has not
displayed the callers number but displayed "Privte Number" or "No
Number" instead. The first part of my question is: Is it possible for
caller ID to work accross borders? But also I've been trying to find
where the call originated from but I can't find the area code 634
listed anywhere. Where is it??

After writing the question I've noticed the number to be too short (by
one digit) to originating from the US. But still, where's it from?

Dear markwalker,

Do you know someone in the Philippines? I ask that because I believe
that this is the country the telephone number originates from. The
country code of the Philippines is +63, but in several
country-to-country dialing combinations it becomes +163.

Yes, Caller ID works overseas. If I were to call your cellphone, my
number would pop up. I know; I've seen it work in Europe.
