Excellent question. The answer is NOT MANY (this is especially true
where those very promising "Name My Business" questions are
concerned.) Much of what we here do is based on trust when people
promise big tips and too these "big tippers" walk away with good
answers without upholding their end of the bargain. Frustrating
indeed.

Umm-hmm! It would be nice if G-A could/would adapt the system to
preclude questioners' canceling a question without at least a final
comment by themselves.

I would offer a big tip to anyone who arranged that ...

Hi There.

Not a lot sounds about right. The biggest problem seems to be of
people who do not offer enough money for the question. Tens and
hundreds of question, sigh!!

Further to my previous comment,
after looking at 150 questions, I believe a more accurate answer is:

77.5% of questions that offered a tip in the main question (ie.
excluding those that offer a tip in question clarifications, etc.)
subsequently gave a tip

Well for me 77.5% isn't bad at all.

Nice work Holmes!

It is interesting that when an actual analysis is done the result is
surprising/contrary to expectations.

I guess it depends on how many were promised to YOU and how many of
those customedrs ended up stiffing you for the tip. The results
offered by the commenter are accurate only in the broad sense. On a
personal scale however the percentage might be significantly greater
in comparison to how many questions one has worked on. See what I
mean? If a researcher has 100 questions and 1 of them promised a tip
several months ago but didn't deliver, it might not be that big of a
deal. On the other hand, if a researcher has worked on 20 questions
and 8 of them have promised tips in the last two weeks but stiffed him
in the end, the issue would be much more serious. Make sense? It's far
more relevent than the commenter's stats suggest.

tutuzdad-ga,
You may have worse statistics because your legal and police expertise
hits questions that are more susceptible to disappointing truth,
answering people who promise a tip while hoping they'll get around a
DUI and then learning different.

Which creates an even more interestting phenomenon - people who don't
tip because thet are disappointed with the unavoidable truth.

I think most Researchers have run up against customers who offer a
tip, and then do not follow through, because the answer isn't exactly
what they wanted to hear. It is very frustrating when a customer
grumbles about a factually-correct, well-documented answer by saying
something such as "This isn't the answer I had hoped for." The
implication is that if the Researcher had fabricated an answer full of
lies, the customer would have been a lot happier.
