On page 3 of the book, as well as on the back cover of the book, there
is mention of a government program that gives out $43,000 to become a
French chef. Oddly enough, I am trying to secure funds to do that
right now. I have went through every part of the book that could
possibly have this information, the student loans section, the better
job training section, opening a business section, some of the others,
and even read about half of the index and attempted to find it under
everything. Apparently I have overlooked it. Or perhaps I
misunderstand how a certain program is designed to work. Regardless,
if someone could tell me exactly what page the referenced program is
on, I would be $43,000 happier. |

Could it be in the on-the-job training section (pages 527-537, I
believe)? It don't have the full book; but that's my best guess from
browsing the index.
If you find it there, I'd be happy to post this suggestion as an answer.

No, I don't believe that is it. The word "Cook" is mentioned as an
apprenticeable occupation, but does not directly say "French Chef."
Furthermore, the program in question offers $43,000 to become a french
chef. I happen to know that New York's finest culinary graduates make
no more than $40,000 - $50,000 per year. According to the book,
apprenticeship pays roughly half of what a fully trained worker would
make, meaning that at best I would get $25,000 per year. So, no I
don't believe this is what I am looking for.

Lesko -- the man in the question marks -- is well-known for dangling
tantalizing pieces of information about free government money that
sometimes stretch the bounds of what government programs really offer.
Just because the French Chef is mentioned in one or two places,
doesn't mean that there's an actual description in his book of just
which program paid out such a handsome sum. In fact, the French Chef
$$$ is mentioned in quite a number of Lesko's books, but I don't know
if it'f sully describd anywhere.
From what I've seen of Lesko's texts, most of the verbiage is directly
lifted from federal government sites and presented verbatim. So it
may very well be that there's nothing specifically in the text about
the French Chef money, other than the tidbits Lesko provides on the
back cover and intro text.
Good luck, though,

Sounds about right. Anything that sounds to good to be true, often is.
Oh well. I'll leave this up, if anyone can prove otherwise, I'll be
glad to pay.
