Hi Researchers,

I'm looking for a very specific sized leather D-RING binder. I'm NOT
looking for anything that is cheap or patterned from the usual
'archive' websites (pfile, clearfile, arrowfile etc) but a 'luxary'
leather ring binder (probably plain black or brown) to display 300+
6x4 inch prints (wedding proofs) in slip-in pages available here:
http://www.arrowfile.com/product.asp?pf_id=REP8315B (These pages do
not fit in standard sized binders). I'm also hoping that the album
comes boxed for that premium feel. AspinalofLondon provide the right
quality of boxed binder
(http://www.aspinaloflondon.com/select_dring.asp?CategoryID=17&RangeID=35&StyleID=151&ProductID=225),
but I don't think these are big enough to hold the pages. I'd like to
spend £60 - £100 and I'm based in the UK.

Thanks for any help

KRgds

Hi myoarin,

These albums will be given away for the couple to keep - at the
momment I'm looking to buy about 12 a year, but that figure may change
quite a lot, depending on bookings.

I know the albums exist somewhere (at least in a very similar form) as
we got one from our wedding photographer - however she won't disclose
where she got it from, and it has no markings on.

Thanks
David

Hi Myoarin,

Yes - thanks - I've been using the Gainsbrough Leather ones up to
date, but they're actually look and feel a bit cheap once you handle
them in person (although the web photo looks nice). The lining is
actually 'dirty' colour and doesn't suggest 'premium' at all.

Thanks v much though - from web pictures and description alone it
would be perfect, but the price is more telling of the quality.

David,
Do you just need a few binders to present the proofs in style and can
then reuse them, OR do you included them in your service and let the
couple keep the binder?

If the former, you could surely have a few custom bound with leather,
perhaps using one of the arrowfile binders as a base, since I expect
they have be very sturdy.

David,
I just clicked on one of the arrowfile binders and at the left on the
new page they offer "leather, custom, designer ..." Have you seen
that?

Sure, there is Aspinal leather binding, but when they get their
wedding pics, they will be very happy, and for the price you were
considering, you can put their names on the binder in gold.

The above is the page for the leather binder.

David,
Yeah, I thought the price was too good. You might mention to them your opinion.
Perhaps they can upgrade their product.

Bookbinders:

Here is one site:

http://www.bookbinder.co.uk/

Of course, you can find many more. As mentioned, I see a difficulty
with having a bookbinder start from scratch, since the weight and the
strain on the hinges are factors normal bookbinding might not handle
well, whereas overlaying an Arrowfile binder with good leather and
good liner would seem (to me) a satisfactory solution.

Good luck, Myoarin
