Question ID: 550429
I have a Motorola RAZR through T-Mobile.

I have of course already called T-Mobile but they
were useless in answering this question.

The RAZR supposedly has a builtin POP3 email client.
Just check any phone-related website.

Here's even a screen shot:
http://www.phonescoop.com/articles/review_moto_razr/index.php?p=u3&g=inbox&h=dsc01567

But my phone doesn't have the "Email Msgs" shown in the screen above.

Was this removed by T-Mobile?

T-Mobile has a WAP-to-POP3 gateway (part of T-Zones) that they want
me to use, but this is too slow and impractical (messages are not
stored on the phone!).

Where is the email client hidden? Do I need to download separately?

Thanks

I don't own a RAZR, but from what I can see online, I'm
wondering if the "Email Msgs" line simply isn't appearing
because you don't yet have any messages stored, and don't
yet have the email client configured.

According to this page, which talks about a V3 (is yours
a V3?) it sounds like you need to press the center button
to enter the main configuration screen, at which point
you can navigate to a screen that looks like the image
on the page, where you can input the data needed to set
up your email account:
http://www.jiwire.com/motorola-razr-v3-setup-usability.htm

Alternative email clients also seem to be available for
download on this page at GetJar.com:
http://www.getjar.com/software/Motorola/Razr_V3/Applications/Email

Let me know where this takes you, and what else you may
need to consider your question well-answered...

hi sublime1:

The screen "Email Msg Setup" shown under "Configuring Razr Email"
in your first link is exactly what I have been looking for and
cannot find anywhere in my phone. I have checked every conceivable
menu option and button combination several times! It is nowhere
to be found.

I believe my phone is a V3. Under one of the menus I get the
"Flex Version" string: GSMV3xxTMBO1NAOB.

I'll try an alternative client, too.

Thanks

Yes, T-Mobile crippled your phone. (I just bought the phone, that's why I know.)

If you don't mind using T-Mobile's email service, you can just go
ahead and subscribe for T-Mobile Internet and use T-Mo's retarded
email client under "Get More" menu.

However, if you're like me, prefer to use your own email server & all
that, you need to "flex" your phone so that original menus are
revealed. If you are technically inclined, visit this page :

http://motomodders.net/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=8668

Basically, this is what I did :

1 - Flash stock flash/flex from Motorola
2 - Reflash C3R firmware

Warnings :
- Read instruction carefully
- All "Get More" menu from T-Mo will be gone. (I personally hate these anyways)
- You have to setup GPRS setting again. Consult this page :
http://support.t-mobile.com/knowbase/root/public/tm21625.htm
- Like it or not, all T-Mobile branding will be gone. (I like this)

multiplelines-ga, thanks for the pointers, do you know
if there is a way to save and restore the T-Mobile branding
just in case I don't like what I get?

Thanks

Check out the link I sent you. There should be some way for you to
backup your flash/flex from your phone. Also check www.motox.us and
see if they have T-Mobile flash/flex available. (I remember they got
Cingular's, not sure if they have T-Mo's).

(P.S. If you flash C3R firmware, you get 7mb of space instead of 5)

Personally, I'm glad that all T-Mo's branding are gone. There are
bunch of stuff hidden from you.

I just signed up for T-Mobile Web last night. Can access the web now,
but still can't access POP/IMAP server. Customer Service is pretty
arrogant. I think T-Mo customer service is going downhill.
