We are a museum,so we have ticket sales. We also have a bookstore
within the museum. Could you find several software that manage both of
pos needs. I know of software that takes care of ticketing needs and I
know of software that takes care of bookstore needs. I don't know of
any that do both of these robustly.
Some requirements of the software: POS hardware and sofware, SQL
Server backend, Kiosk Capable(the ability to purchase via kiosks thru
the museum, talk back to the bookstore so they can compile the order),
the same for the internet. |

Hi!
Would customize software solutions be ok with you instead of off the
shelf ones? These would seem to be a more reasonable solution to your
needs.
I was able to find 3 companies that provide such solutions to the museum industry.
Thanks!

Customiziation is good if affordable both with initial development and
ongoing yearly support.

Such terms as pricing and support vary greatly on the detailed task at
hand also negotiation terms you are able to map out.
Would a list of these companies plus their contact numbers be enough
so as you can converse with them and get the terms you need?
THANKS!

management( ticketing, exhibit mgmt, pos, gift shop/bookstore) would
suffice

The list must include only US based companies ,please.
The list must not include companies that simply build customizable
software, please, I have access to 312,000 of them on Rent-a-coder

Hi!
In my clarification, I asked if customizable solutions will be ok and
these are customizable solutions. Your answer was "Customiziation is
good if affordable both with initial development and ongoing yearly
support."
I then added that such features as pricing and yearly support has to
undergo negotiation process and ask if company contact information
will be enough so that you will be the one to clarify these things
with them.
On both counts you said yes so I posted them here as an official
answer. I only included the non-US ones in case you would have any
need of them.
Plus as you can see these companies have ready made software products
of their own but they still customize them in order to answer specific
client needs. They do not just code from scratch.
Another thing is that you never mentioned that you have already
undergone such research at Rent-a-coder. Google Answers Researchers
can only work on the premise and info you have given us. In fact in
one of the instructions to customers, it is recommended that you
provide what on hand info you have so as to give out a good picture of
what you need.
Again another advantage to these companies is that they have
experiences with museums in the past.
I hope this clarifies my answer.
