I would like to know the annual returns of the S&P MidCap 400 Barra
value and growth indices in the years 1995-2000 (inclusive). This is
the time before the corresponding ETFs (ticker IJJ and IJK) started to
trade. Please provide a link to the answer.

I found a monthly returns chart of the above indices at
http://www.webvalue.net/money/index400.html . However, it ends in
1997, and it does not show annual returns.

Egabber --

Are you sure that both Growth and Value exist for the Barra Mid-Cap
during this period? I just checked the NY Times for Dec. 31, 1994 and
it only shows a single Barra Mid-Cap 400. I think that I can pull
numbers for it from the year-end NY Times or Wall Street Journal but
have not seen more than one version of the Barra Mid-Cap 400 in that
time period.

I know that these indices existed before the corresponding ETFs were
launched. I read somewhere that these indices were introduced in 1994
or 1995 (or that they were back-calculated) since then. I think that
they were pretty obscure before the ETFs were launched.

Just for researchers, here are places that the Barra Mid-Cap indexes
can't be found:
* S&P Security Price Index Record for 2004 (it has the S&P 500/Barra
-- not the same thing)
*  Yahoo! Finance
*  BigCharts.com
