I need help with the name of a movies, I have been searching for years,
not much to go on,

Scandinavian or Eastern European movie
I saw it subtitled into English don't know what language they were speaking
plot: a warrior stumbles into a small village in the hills, mortally
wounded, and is helped into health by the towns people (particularly a
young woman)
then once healed he leads the town to war with the neighbouring town.
starts of sombre and gets slightly humorous/surreal by the end.
fight scenes are with swords and clubs, not modern, no guns or
anything of the sort, set around the medieval times or there abouts I
think. |

if I remember correctly, the small village, that is lead by the
warrior to battle are poor pesants, they come up against better
trained/armed opponents, the enemy may have been in armour, I think
I remember a scene where one of the villagers swings his sword at a
bad guy in armour, then you see the suit of armour without a head,
then the head pops up from within turtle like
