after the name of a movie, any help appreciated

Asian kung-fu cult movie,
the main character fights with a wooden foot-stool all the way
throughout the movie, it is the guys weapon of choice, has great
scenes of him blocking swords, and knocking people out with the
foot-stool.
probably made in the mid 80's
set hundreds of years ago in ancient China? maybe Hong Kong or even Japan?????

In a 1980 Hong Kong film called "Encounters of the Spooky Kind" --
also known as "Gui da gui" (Ghost Fights Ghost) -- a man fights off a
large group of attackers, using only a stool as a weapon:

"OK. Next, kung fu classics. Forget Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. The
best action and fighting scenes you will ever see are in Encounters of
the Spooky Kind. It's set in China and revolves around 'Fat Chung',
who has been framed for the murder of his wife. She isn't actually
dead, but has shacked up with her warlord lover.

Chung is a fearless sort who accepts all sorts of dares, and ends up
befriending a good wizard, intent on helping him out of his
predicament. Together they face a couple of hilarious encounters with
ghosts who are brought back to life by the evil warlord's wizard.

The most spectacular fighting scene you will ever see happens in a
countryside cafe when Chung is attacked by 30 or so bad guys. He
fights them off armed with a stool, only to find himself in more
trouble immediately afterwards.
The finale is nothing short of amazing, when Chung and his wizard
friend face off against the evil wizard and his champion. Both
fighters are empowered by the spirits of Chinese gods, and I guarantee
you will never see better kung fu in a movie. Ever."

If this is the movie you seek, I'll be glad to post it as your official answer.

i remember a scedne near the start, there are 2 main hero's in this
film, the first guy meets the second guy in the wilderness, (the
second guy is our hero with the foot stool), anyway there is a fight,
and the second guy(footstool man) is fighting with his footstool,
blocking swords etc, then afterwoods after they win the fight, these
two join forces, and the second guy(footstoolman) is carrying his
footstool with him, and has it where ever he goes,

in the fight scenes he goes between fighting, blocking attackling and
sitting on the footstool with smooth movements

What a shame. With Pink's recommendation, even I might try to view her movie. :-)

Is it "The Young Master (1980)" starring Jackie Chan:

"...but it is still a joy to watch him in action in scenes such as his
fan duel with a local bully and a running series of confrontations
with Yuen Biao armed with a wooden stool."

Apparently Jackie Chan is known for his "wooden stool" fighting
technique. Here is a quote in reference to a similiar scene in
"Around the World in 80 Days":

"... and good to see chan using his "wooden stool" technique again,
not seen him fight like this since his old films, pretty surprised i
was!..."

it might be young master, all I really remember was the wooden stool
was his weapon of choice, (as apposed to a sword or anything) I
thought I would remember if it was jackie Chan,
