I?m looking for the name and author of a play about George Washington. It is a modern one-act farce (in seven scenes, I think). It was directed by Angie Paton at the old Addison Theatre in Berkeley maybe 25 years ago. It concerns the American Revolution. George Washington and General Burgoyne are characters in it. Washington has a dream about his father in which Burgoyne appears as the father figure. The American and British armies appear as puppets supported by a few real actors. I believe it was written by someone who isn't known for writing plays--a poet perhaps or a writer about educational matters. |
