In a few months it will be 10 years since I filed for bankruptcy and
it was discharged. Therefore, the record will be removed from my
credit report. But sometimes if you fill out an employment form or
credit application there is a question that asks if you have ever
filed for bankruptcy. Am I legally required to say "yes", or can I
answer "no" since it no longer appears in my credit history record
from the 3 major credit reporting agencies? I'm in Florida if it
makes a difference legally. Any references to authoritative sources
instead of just opinions based on ethics?

If the question states "Have you ever filed bankruptcy?" then your
answer should be yes, because you have. If the questions states "Is
there any bankruptcy listed on your credit report?" then your answer
should be no, because there no longer is. You obviously know the
answer to your own question.
Is your implied question therefore, what are the chances I will get
caught if I lie? Well, if someone decides to check, you may get
caught because there are many other records of your bankruptcy filing
than just your credit report.

You're right, I know the correct answer. I was just hoping for a "loophole". :)
