Is there any similar services to Google alerts? For example if a term
is used on the internet within a group, messageboard, forum or on a
website. And what are they? An example is if I want to be alerted if
someone mentions exchanging a online currency, or if someone is
challenging terms of a payment processor etc. I could have a google
alert set up for example "I dont like XXX site terms" or "I want to
exchange XXX site currency". so basically I want to know if I am using
all alert services available to me.

hi and thank you for your question

yahoo provides a same service that has some more features you can
enter the categories or subjects you want like you said before in news
alert section and receive alerts via emails , text messags on your
mobile or even IM on yahoo messenger about those searches . you can
also use breaking or daily news options to receive news . you can also
receive alerts about weather in your area , stock market , sports and
many other categories. you can use this service at
http://alerts.yahoo.com/
note that you should have a free yahoo account for using this .

if you want to receive emails from a group about those stuff you said
you first have to register at a group that is working and searching on
those categories . to do this you have to go this address
http://groups.yahoo.com/ then look for a group that is working and
searching on those stuff you are interested in by searching for a
group or selecting a group by category once you have found the group
you are looking for. then you can register on them but remeber to
select the right option as you want in your regitration to receive
email alerts from that group you can also post messages and your
questions in group messageboard and receive your answers.
note that again you should have a free yahoo account for using this
one too but you can use a same yahoo id for all yahoo services.

about messageboards and forums i have to tell you that being able to
receive alerts from them depends on forum software they are using some
of the forum softwares that websites are using for their forum
supports receiving alert for a specified thread , subject , category
or words for users you have to find a forum about everything you are
looking for , then check if it has the feature I said you can register
and recieve alerts about what you want.

I hope you have found your answer
