I have a real problem conecting to broadband with both my computers. They both show the same symtoms(errors) the following day when trying to sign on with AOL software. With both computers I have consulted AOL technical support ,after of course reformating. My local computer shop suggest warm weather might be responsible. However after putting both computers in a cool location the problem of signing on with AOL still persists.Therfore could someone an alternative idea to conquer this persistant problem.AOL technical support have been exhausted for fixes.Of course AOL has worked. Now I am faced with the tedious reformating and instalation of AOL every day on both computers.Has anyone any ideas? |

I would recommend switching your internet provider. AOL is rather crummy when it comes to establishing connectionr or even holding a stable connection. Their support also is not that great either. Although I do not know exactly what is preventing you from connecting, it sounds like the provider is failing to connect you. |

Just wanted to add, also make sure you have the appropriate drivers installed for your hardware. Because if the drivers are not present, your devices may not be configured to work with your system. |

Please note, the AOL modem has been faulty from the start of the instalation (early July). The fault being a intermittant connection at the point of entry of the ethernet cable in the AOL modem. The only way I could fix this was wriggling the cable into the modems ethernet connection!AOL technical support have promised a new modem to be posted to me the day before yesterday. However after many calls to AOL tecnical support, they finally took the modem problem seriously.Common sense tells me I cannot rule out the AOL modem causing these persistant disconnection problems as preveously described on botth computers. Also the broadband instalation disc provided by AOL provides the drivers for my laptop (windows XP,basic version, service pack two will not install, error message tells me it is not neccesary) and drivers for my desktop (windows98).Any comments appreciat!e |
