kni800-ga,

Although illegally impersonating someone else can hardly be called a
new crime, it is only in the past few years that "identity theft" has
emerged as a topic of enormous public awareness and concern.

I am aware of data sources on identity theft that date back to the
year 2000 -- I don't beleive you would find much concrete statistics
earlier than this. The data covers the number of complaints of
identity theft, and the nature of these complaints.

Would a table of statistics going back to the year 2000 meet your needs?

Let me know.

No. We don't want the number of complaints (I am already aware of the
info from the FTC site). What we need is to show the historical growth
of data breaches and the forecasted growth of data breaches or future
of data theft. A table with years and percentage growth would work
fine. But please pay close attention that we need it to be narrowed
down to data breaches (theft)and not only identity theft.
