Hello Sharkshot,

Annual ad spending exceeds $141 billion

?Overall spending has been trending up for several years. It was
$112.5 billion in 2001; $117.3 billion in 2002; $128.5 billion in
2003; and up to $141 billion last year.?

?The Internet, outdoor, cable TV and national syndication showed the
strongest gains. Local newspapers led in dollar spending, at $24.5
billion, an increase of 6.7 percent over the spending of $23 billion
in 2003. Outdoor advertising increased 20.1 percent to $3.2 billion in
spending, compared with $2.6 billion in 2003.?

?Ad spending for network TV increased 10.7 percent, to $22.5 billion,
compared with $20.3 billion in 2003. In consumer magazines, the
increase was 11.2 percent, to $21.2 billion compared with $19.1
billion in 2003.?

?In spot TV, the increase was 11.7 percent, to $17.3 billion from
$15.4 billion. In cable TV, the increase was 13.8 percent, to $14.2
billion from $12. 5 billion. ?

?Spending on Internet advertising has been on a bit of a roller
coaster. It was at $6.5 billion in 2001, $5.7 billion in 2002, $6.1
billion in 2003 and $7.4 billion last year.?
