Hi, I have an infant's bed that I took to the US from Europe. Most
probably, it's Italian.

Old mattress' size is 65 ? 125 cm.
(If you measure the bed?s place for mattress, you?ll receive: 64 X 127 cm.)

I could find mattresses that are slightly bigger (1-2?) this is why
they cannot be used in this bed.

Please help me to find a new child mattress under $200 for this bed.

Preferences:
Would be better if under $100.
Physical store (around Seattle, WA) is better then online.
Spring is better then foam.
Factory-made is better then custom-made.

(Online, foam, and custom are OK too if I don't have choice)

Can't help about the mattress but just wanted to point out two things:
1. Do check that any paint on the cot or cradle is lead-free. Antique
cradles could have harmful lead paint and this needs to be removed
with great care if you are planning to use the item for a baby.
Otherwise (s)he could get lead poisoning from sucking the paintwork.
2. Also check that any cot bars meet the current regulations. Older
cots sometimes had bars that were quite wide apart. Babies
occasionally got their heads caught between the bars and were hurt or
strangled.
Naturally, you will check that the cot is stable and deep enough to
make sure that the child can't fall out.

Hi amber00!

Thank you very much for your answer! Fortunately, this is a
contemporary and safe bed, the problem appears to be in different
standards in EU and US.

Probably, the best solution would be a place where I could bye an inported mattress.

I doubt that the original mattress was springs, having a little
experience with baby cots in Germany.
I would make one of foam, cover it with cotton batting and make a
couple of covers for it.

Thanks, myoarin!

The old mattress was spring, and you know how my first child jumped on
it?!! Actually, this is one of the main reasons why I want a spring
mattress.

I see. :) More reason for foam, less pleasure at jumping. But maybe
you won't buy that. I think our two kids survived (one after the
other) on one standard cheap foam mattress with no orthepedic
problems. They even seemed to have survived our minimal
literature-informed upbringing. 8-D

Can't you just use major force to make one of those one or two inch
bigger US mattress fit?

Don't bother to reply. I hope someone has a better solution. Myoarin

Anyway, thank you!
I'll answer at least to inform the researcher that if I try to use one
or two inch bigger mattress, its surface will not be flat, it will
have waves.
