Hello emil01-ga,

I believe that your question will require more time
and effort than the average amount of time and effort associated
with this price. Here is a link to guidelines about pricing

I am not prepared to spend more than $5.00 but I am willing to go to
that price level. Have you tried UK sites which provide services to
undergraduate students?
Thank you.

Estimates of costs are:

Cheap (£6,000 per year)
These costs may be relevant if you live close to your school outside
London or south-east England, or if you live in student accommodation
at a university. It may be difficult to live comfortably in London on
this budget

Average (£9,000 per year)
These costs may be relevant if you are a language student in London,
living in cheap accommodation in a reasonably central location (within
zone 2), and using a 'youth' weekly travel pass (for zones 1 and 2).
It may also represent the costs of a student with a more expensive
lifestyle at a school outside London or south-east England

Expensive (£12,000 per year)
These costs may be relevant if you live in basic accommodation in a
more expensive area in central London or south east England

This site has a lot of useful info. The cost, of accommodtaion and
transport particularly, can vary greatly - not just London vs rest of
UK. It also depends on where you're coming from - if you're used to a
hot country or location, you may need to buy warmer clothes than
someone used to a hardier climate.

Some estimates for Lampeter, in Mid Wales, which will be a cheaper area, are

An interesting article at
http://www.rbs.com/media03.asp?id=MEDIA_CENTRE/PRESS_RELEASES/2005/AUGUST/01_COST_OF_LIVING

shows London as being the most cost-effective place for students. High
accomodation costs are offset by the availability of well-paid
part-time work. This article includes a list of 22 towns with relative
cost-effectiveness rating.

Last night there was a Channel 4 programme on the best and worst
places to live in the UK. You'll probably find the worst are the
cheapest for accomodation (but transport might be poor) - but would
you want to live there?
