Paul Westerberg and The Replacements do a song called "We're Coming
Out". I have a persistent sense that, while it may not be the same
song, there is another song called "We're Coming Out" or that phrase
is perhaps the chorus to another song? I would like to know the group
who does this other song, and the release on which it can be found. |

I wonder if you may be thinking of "I'm Coming Out," by Bernard
Edwards and Nile Rodgers. Diana Ross, Hit Crew, The Sweet
Inspirations, and Amerie have all performed this song.
Lyrics are here:

Let me know what you think.

In the song you're thinking of, is the phrase repeated at least a few
times in a row, as in the Replacements' song?
Is the phrase sung slowly, as in the Diana Ross song, or more quickly?
(I now have a vague sense too of a song where "we're coming out" or
something like that is repeated about three times quickly. But I
can't place the song yet, and don't know whether it's what you
remember.)

The one I was thinking of, is in fact, Pink Frued, the Diana Ross.
So, question answered, Pink. Thanks!
HOWEVER, Justaskscott, the TITLE "WE'RE Coming Out", rather than "I'M"
still seems like it is another, perhaps punk song? that I have heard
the title of, as you seem to think.
So, I am going to make a new question for you.
