Industrial Design: An industry has decided to incinerate trace amounts
of VOCs that are otherwise discharged into the atmosphere. their
permit necessitates 99.6% removal efficiency.The data are follows:
Flow rate:2000 scfm
conentration:500ppm
Temp.:300 deg.Far.
The incineration requirements:
T:1200 deg. far.
Excess air: 80%
Gas velocity: 15 ft/s
The combustion reaction is modeled by first order kinetics as follows:
C= Co e in power of 2.6/s
Assuming the incinerator will be fueled with natural gas (0.042 lb.per
ft cub.and 1000 btu per ft cub.). Determine the fuel consumption rate
and the lenght and crossection of a tubular incinerator.
