According to Murray Arenson, analyst at Ferris, Baker Watts analyst,
about 2%?3% of movie tickets are currently bought online

Extract from a note sent by Ferris, Baker Watts analyst Murray Arenson
to clients dated April 2005.

?We also note that only about 2%?3% of movie tickets are currently
bought online. We believe that MovieTickets should be able to achieve
50% growth or greater in 2006, with significant leverage in the
financial model.?

Online movie ticket sales, however, make up only a small part of
box-office receipts, which totaled a record $9.4 billion last year.

?The attempt has not been highly successful thus far, experts say,
because Web sites typically strike deals with certain theater owners,
and consumers have to go to many sites to find the specific theater
they are looking for.?

Thanks for you quick response. Altho there is something that is not
right with a couple of those statements (i know your not the author)
but here is exactly the figure i am trying to get updated.

Search method:
movie tickets bought online

yeilded:
http://www.realseo.com/archives/000468.html

This shows 24 Percent (which is derived from an emarketer study). I
know this number is accurate for last year and also know there has
been tremendous growth in this industry as well. I need to get that
figure brought current. Thanks again.

I also saw the same article but I assumed that the 24% figure was
among moviegoers who viewed sites related to three summer blockbuster
movie sequels: Shrek 2, Spiderman 2 and the Harry Potter sequel, Harry
Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Excerpt:

"Traffic was monitored from May 1 through June 30, 2004 among
moviegoers who viewed sites related to three summer blockbuster movie
sequels: Shrek 2, Spiderman 2 and the Harry Potter sequel, Harry
Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban."

In any case I did search for a higher percentage for online ticket
sales and did not find anything.
