Are you interested in all soccer players from child to adult? Professional and amateur? As an example in the U.S. there are several national childrens leagues such as AYSO that are very popular and very large. Better players begin to locate club teams as young as U-10. All 50 states have associations that regulate soccer ranging from club to high school. The ODP (Olympic Development Program) fields boys and girls teams at a regional and state level for the best players starting at about U-10 through high school. College and university teams from Div. 1A to Div. III are common. The MLS is the top American pro league, but numerous semi-pro leagues exist, as well as over-30 and over-40 recreational adult leagues. The U.S. Soccer Federation probably has a good number: http://www.ussoccer.com |

That is just a fraction of what you want. There are more soccer players in Germany than the whole Danish population - which makes it embarassing when the Danes win the European championship: 6.2 million members in 26,010 clubs: http://www.dfb.de/dfb-info/eigenprofil/index.html |

HI, I kind of think the rest of the world is not so organized as the Germans are on this subject. Besides, researchers are shy of questions about "all" of anything. The world soccer federation, FIFA, lists 205 member associations: http://www.fifa.com/en/organisation/na/index.html You can click on each of them, and, of course, you can ask FIFA if it has a number, but I doubt if it would be a satisfactory answer. |
