Question ID: 554838
I want to create a macro in Outlook 2000 that takes all the
attachments from various emails contained within one subfolder of my
inbox and save them to a particular location on my hard drive. Ideally
I'd be able to click a button on the toolbar or use a keyboard
shortcut and the macro does the rest.

I know what I want it to do but I'm unfamiliar with VB Script in Outlook.

Hi,

This link has everything to kick you off in the right direction -

A nice medley of free VBA Training & Tutorials & links:

Also have a peek here for info on using a macro (I'm not sure to what
extent Outlook/Office 2000 supports macro recording - even though on
MSDN it says that it does: "For the first time, users and developers
can use the Visual Basic Editor to write VBA macros and event
procedures that are executed by Outlook itself"):

Ye Olde MSDN (treasure trove of info):

Other resources are message boards or open forums, and of course, books.

Let me know if this was helpful to you.

Hi ash1106-ga,
There are external programs available that do pretty much what you
want, i.e. save all attachments in an Outlook folder. These integrate
with Outlook also, so they can easily be used from inside it.
Would you be interested in these as an answer?

If there's an external program that does what I want all the better
but my main consideration is cost. I wanted to use a Macro because it
can be coded into Outlook and doesn't cost anything other than the
time it's taken to write it.

If you have a list of software utilities that do what I want then by
all means provide me with a link to them and I can check them out.
