in reference to my question re a legit date for a wedding, I am
looking for a straight man, could be an out of work actor about 45-55
years old who I could hire for 4 to 5 hours as an escort to a wedding.
 He would be picked up driven to the wedding and after returned home

"... wedding I have to go to."  That doesn't sound like the couple are
close friends, but you still might tell the partner you know best that
you prefer to come alone and could be seated with any (?)
unaccompanied male (or other female) guest.
If you have been invited, the hosts can't insist that you bring a partner.

Or, if it is a church wedding, you could zip around to the church on
Sunday (if it is in town) and see if there is a single man there who
would accompany you  - or do the same at another church, maybe at
coffee after the service.

I guess escort service men are experienced with such situations, but
at a wedding and reception, you might feel uncomfortable about
introducing him to everyone as an old or new friend.

I prefer my first suggestion, though the second one could be interesting to try.
