I am looking for more information on BridgeStreet Worldwide's
BridgeChef Service. In an article in Business Travel Executive
Magazine this April (the article is by Jerome Greer Chandler and I
unfortunately do not have the title, just the text of the article), we
found the following text:
"Among the things corporate housing providers such as Bridgestreet
would like you to know is that corporate housing can offer the
amenities of home, and the convenience of a hotel. Bridgestreet?s
?BridgeChef? service, for instance, ?allows a corporate traveler to
order food in advance of their stay? says Sean McCurdy. ?It?s not
necessarily room service, but they can have food in their fridge upon
arrival.? No need to stop off at the supermarket on the way back from
an 18-hour day on the job site and hunt for stuff. It?s there. On
demand."
No one at BridgeStreet appears to know about this service and no other
information on this service is available either on BridgeStreet's
website (www.bridgestreet.com), BridgeStreet's public parent,
Interstate Hotels and Resorts (www.ihrco.com) or elsewhere on the web.
Is this a service BridgeStreet has abandoned?
If not, what is it? Have they renamed it? Is it available everywhere
or only in select markets? How much does it cost the client? |

I don't care about any corporate housing services except the
BridgeChef service provided by BridgeStreet Worldwide. The one
exception would be if BridgeChef has somehow morphed into something
else (again, still provided by BridgeStreet).
Thanks!

Logicalboyla,
What about this?
BridgeCare - Excellence in Everything We Do
"Our BridgeCare Program provides our Associates with recognition and
rewards for going 'the extra mile' whenever they meet, greet or
encounter any of our Guests. "
"It's a program that encourages all of us to look for that extra-added
service or improved communication to ensure that our Guests always
experience the most memorable stay possible."
We are proud to share the stories of some of our 2003 and 2004 "BridgeStars"...
Hope Crihfield
"A Guest was arriving late and she was concerned about getting
groceries prior to her appointment with her doctor for reconstructive
surgery. She asked if there was a local delivery service that could
deliver groceries. I offered to do her grocery shopping for her. I
bought everything on her list and delivered the items to her apartment
prior to her arrival."

Another BridgeCare Award Winner:
"Grand-prize winner Sarah Harris, in BridgeStreet's Louisville office,
brought unexpected joy during the Christmas holidays to a family
staying at BridgeStreet whose home had been destroyed during a storm.
She completely outfitted their apartment with Christmas decorations
that she bought. She also purchased stockings for the whole family,
which she filled with goodies and hung on the mantle, filled a jar
with Christmas candies for the coffee table and set out a plate of
holiday cookies. The guests were thrilled and very touched that
someone had done something so thoughtful."

No, I know all about these programs/"programs". (Some of them are,
um, kind of all makeup and no face...)
I'm only interested in the BridgeChef program and its status. I kind
of suspect the reason I can't find anything more on it is because this
mention of it in an article is the only mention of it that went out to
the press and that at some point between now and April, the program
was quietly laid to rest. I'd like to get that confirmed, and if
possible, to know why.

Logicalboyla,
Unfortunately I did not find any additional information for you.
Perhaps another researcher will have better luck.

Have you contacted Mr. McCurdy (quoted in the article) about this
program? If you haven't, I would be happy to do so.

Hello logicalboyla-ga,
While justaskscott-ga awaits his contact, I thought I'd have a look
around...hope that's OK with everyone.
I believe that the BridgeChef service referred to in the article was
actually an erroneous reference to a service known as the
"Bridgestreet Chef" prepared meals service, which was announced in
2003 as about-to-be-launched, but them seems to have disappeared.
The sole reference to it can be found in Interstate's 2003 annual report on page 6:
http://media.corporate-ir.net/media_files/irol/10/103523/reports/2003_annual.pdf
"BridgeStreet will be introducing
BridgeStreet Chef, a prepared
meal delivery service, in the
second quarter..."
Beyond that, there is no information available on this service. My
guess is that it was never launched, despite the announcement.
What additional information do you need to make for a complete answer
to your question?

Just some sort of confirmation--and I'll take a quote from an
unrecorded phone call w a named BridgeStreet staffer that BridgeStreet
Chef and/or BridgeChef, while at one point floated, piloted, whatever,
is/are dead, as per your guess (which I'm inclined to agree with).

Seems like we're closing in on things. Is there anything else you
need or would like at this point?
If not, what is the status of the question? I suggest canceling it if
you are no longer in need of our services.
Thanks,
paf

In my opinion, it is conceivable that the program still exists in some
form, since the information about it is not only contained in the 2003
annual report but also in the 2005 article you've quoted. So I would
suggest keeping the question open for a little while, if confirmation
of the program's status (and any other information that we learn) is
worth the price to you.

I agree. What I'm looking for is confirmation, not just an extremely
well-grounded suspicion.
