I'm looking for the title of a story Richard Scarry wrote, which I
read over 20 years ago. It is about a bear, living happily on his
own, until a lady bear moves to town (a teacher or librarian) and they
fall in love. I think they even can minced moose meat together! It's
about how life is better when shared with someone you love. I hope
you can help!

Hello.

I believe that you're looking for "Pierre Bear" (1954) by Patricia &
Richard Scarry.

See this description posted on the Usenet group
rec.arts.books.childrens on June 2, 1999, archived by Google Groups:
"He lived all by himself, fishing all alone, preparing fish
supper, 'for Pierre was a Great Fisherman/, wishing he had someone to
share
it with... He kills a moose, for Pierre was the bravest hunter of all
the north" and makes 'moose stew, and moose pie, and moose cake, and
thirteen jars of minced moosemeat.' Then he takes all his furs to the
trading post to sell.
He tells the 'pleasant lady bear' that he needs a guitar to sing to
for he
lives alone."

Order the original book from Abebooks:

search strategy:
scarry, bear, moosemeat

I hope this helps.
