Really the best troubleshooting tool ive found, is my own knowledge +
the internet, once you truly understand computing, all troubleshooting
stems from a basic tree of options.

Thats true but I wanted to speed up this process of diagnostics and
also if I have employees and they are not top notch experts, these
tools can be very helpful. I hope.

Thanks

I wouldn't call Geek Squad top notch by any means. Honestly, all you
really need, as far as physical tools, are a screwdriver and maybe a
can of compressed air. Software really comes down to personal choice.

I have experiences with pc diags, I use work for a computer reseller
and found that PC Doctor is pretty good diagnostic software for
troubleshooting. There is a DOS and Windows Version both with
automation capability, which we leverage quite extensively.
I currently work with IBM servers, which uses PC ? Doctor to test
there server for troubleshooting and service diagnosis.

I also build & repair computers. The best diagnostic software, in my
experience, is available as freeware. Here are my recommendations:

"Ultimate Boot CD" at http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
Download, burn image to a cd, and it will do just about anything.

"PC Wizard" at http://www.cpuid.org/index.php
Excellent program to collect hardware data on an operating PC.

"Belarc Advisor" at http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
Gives listing of software, and some hardware on an operating PC.

"BIOS Wizard" at http://www.unicore.com/bioswiz/index2.html
Provides details on BIOS installed on an operating PC.

"Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder" at
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Magical_Jelly_Bean_Keyfinder_d2612.html
Shows product key for many Microsoft operating systems & applications
installed on a PC.

"KillDisk (Free Version)" at http://www.killdisk.com/
Destroys contents of a hard drive & returns it to "factory fresh"
condition (removes all data & partitions) - VERY useful.

"FDISK (Windows ME Version) at http://radified.com/Files/
Partion a hard drive. Windows ME version supports large drives.

"XS SysDetect" at http://www.majorgeeks.com/XS_SysDetect_d358.html
Provides memory & primary hard drive usage on an operating PC.

Best Wishes

The best thing to do is to put the suspected component on another
computer , so you will see if it work or not ; there are some programs
for hardrive diagnostics (from the producer for ex : maxtor , seagate
,etc) ;
The newest motherboards have an acoustic sistem that tryies to locate
the problem , or other boards like those that have n-force 4 can
locate the zone with trouble ; In case there are other components
there are simmilar tools : for monitor the Nokia testing tool , for
sound cards (you'll se if you can hear it , ) for video cards you can
test the card's capability by specifications .
So there are some tools , but nothing like in the movies :)
