Hello, for several months, whenever I go to use google and start to
type a letter, a drop down box appears that shows me every previous
search I've done that starts with that letter. I find it very
annoying. Maybe I inadvertently downloaded something to do that, I
don't know. but I want to stop it. Can you help me?

Hi
Is this happening only in the Google web page search box? Or does it
happen on other web pages in search boxes?

Do you have Google toolbar installed?

If you are using Internet Explorer 6 (IE6)? If so - One way to stop the Auto
Tool --> Internet options --> Advanced tab --> uncheck the 'use inline
AutoComplete'
Click apply. Close all open IE windows and reopen IE. Try and see if
this solves the problem.

Another trick that may help:
"You can tell your browser to forget individual auto-complete entries...
In Internet Explorer and Firefox, start typing out the entry you want
to be rid of, wait for the browser to suggest it in a drop-down
listing below that form, then select it. In IE, press the Delete key;
in Firefox, hit Shift and Delete."

Let me know if it helped.
Good Luck

Hi,
Another method for controlling Form data entries (IE only):

"IE will remember all your entries into forms if you let it. For
example, IE will remember all your google search terms. This method
describes clearing the form history from Microsoft's IE.
1. Click on Tools in the IE menu
2. Select Internet Options
3. Select the Content Tab
4. Click the AutoComplete button
5. Click Clear Forms
6. Click OK
7. Click OK again "

I also happens when I use non-google documents, for example when I
fill out an online form that requires my name and enter my first
initial, my whole name drops down. Same thing when I start to enter
the first number of my address, and so forth.

There is a extension in firefox that can do this.
Tools->Extensions. Its called Customize Google. You can right click on
it and disable it or Uninsall the extension by clicking Uninstall when
Customize Google is selected.
