Our coder is working on a new artistic looking popup display window on
our website..
He is unfamiliar with any methods to make the browser application
title bar smaller in appearence..My thinking is a browser bar that is
similar to the ones on Instant Message windows..
Any help out there??? here's a link to the project sample..you can
better see the need for scaling down the browser bar ..

benbowpro...

I didn't find anything for adjusting the size of the title
bar, as such, but here's a javascript for creating a popup
window with no title bar, by Joe Burns, on HTMLgoodies.com:
http://www.htmlgoodies.com/beyond/javascript/article.php/3471181

The script as given produces a full-screen popup, but the
size parameters are adjustable. Unfortunately, he notes
that the loss-of-titlebar only works in Intenet Explorer.

This is because the presence of the titlebar in Netscape
kinds of browsers (Mozilla, Firefox) is regulated by code
in the browser user preferences, and can only be changed
by a script if permissions are granted there:

"titlebar"
"By default, all new secondary windows always have a
titlebar. If set to no and if enhanced privileged security
access is granted by the user, then it would remove the
 titlebar from new secondary windows."
http://www.mozilla.org/docs/dom/domref/dom_window_ref76.html

This thread at Experts-Exchange offers some commentary on
Joe Burns' script above and how to resize the popup window:

Let me know what you think...

I advise against using a popup window. Many people find them annoying
and use popup blockers. That means that a significant number of
visitors will not see your message at all, while many others will
certainly not like getting a popup. It is my personal opinion that you
should find a better way to display the information.
