Dear hatchhome,
The ballet theme and the signature have convinced me that the artist
who created your painting is Luigi Vidal, an Italian painter.
Unfortunately, there is almost no information on this artist; not even
his exact date of birth or the date of death, should he be deceased
now, is available. In fact, I have found only one single source
mentioning him at all. Fortunately, this source provided enough
information to be sure that he indeed is the Vidal of your painting.
Luigi Vidal was born in either 1914 or 1917 in Palermo, Italy. He
studied painting in France and Spain. Since his parents were
professional dancers, most of Vidal's paintings depict scenes from the
world of ballet. Apart from that, Vidal also painted
bullfighting-themed pictures.
As you can see on this image of one of his pictures, Luigi Vidal
indeed signed with "Vidal" only:

The above painting is for sale at Thistle Fine Art; the price of
$245.00 suggests that paintings by Luigi Vidal have a certain, albeit
not overwhelming value:

This is all that my research revealed. Unfortunately, no additional
information can currently be found online. But I hope that it is
nevertheless useful and interesting for you.
