Can I get a list of books (and their author) that have been banned in
North or South Carolina. This can be at any level middle school, high
school, libraries but should be from public institutions.

Here are four books that were banned in North or South Carolina.  (I
define "banned" as removed from a library or an academic use for some
length of time.)

"Whale Talk," by Chris Crutcher (school district in Georgetown, SC, 2004 or 2005)

"The Catcher in the Rye," by J.D. Salinger (Dorchester District 2,
Summerville, SC, 2001)

"I Want to Keep My Baby," by Joanna Lee (Morehead High School,
Rockingham County, NC, 1994)

"One Hundred Years of Solitude," by Gabriel Garcia Marquez (St. Johns
High School, Darlington, SC, 1990)

It's surprising that the Doyle list for 2002-2003 doesn't mention the
Greene book.  I suppose no list can be perfect.  Incidentally, here is
that list:
