Question ID: 555604
I am helping local farmers in Australia and we would like to know
details about operational wheat crop monitoring with up-to date
satellite images or airborne photography for use in precision farming.
We would like to know what is available in Australia and learn about
as many overseas examples of operational services, developments and
technologies as possible.
?	Which companies offer such a service?
?	What satellite data are used? Pixel size?
?	What how are the data processed? (Infra red images, vegetation
indices, Biomass estimates, predicted yield maps etc)- who did develop
the algorithms used to produce those derived parameter maps
(scientific publications and algorithms would be a real bonus)
?	How much does it cost per hectare?
?	Which countries/areas are serviced (on all continents)?
?	Does the website have a web-portal for interactive digitizing of
fields by the farmers themselves? (what software is used as a map
server?)
So far I found http://www.agrecon.canberra.edu.au/Products/AgrePRECISE/broadacre_precise/Broadacre_1.htm
in Australia, and
http://www.farmsat.com/ in England
I heared about ?Farmstar? by the Asterium group from GRDC, but could
not find a webpage where you can subscribe to the service.

Thanks for your help!

Have you talked to CSIRO? It seems like they should know something
about what you want and what could be available.

I have and I know of a pasture monitoring product CSIRO developed a
few years ago, but am not aware of a "near real-time" cereal crop
monitoring product. I am after what is commercially available on the
internet, and would also like to learn about applications overseas.
