When I was growing up in the fifties there used to be a popular
household disinfectant called simply "CN." My own research has
revealed that this product was manufactured by the West Disinfecting
Company of Buffalo, N.Y., and that it's active ingredient was
something called chloro-naptholeum. I suspect that CN probably bit the
dust when it was found that the product contained a hazardous
chemical, the use of which was banned. But I'd like to know for
certain.
