I'm running a Windows Small Business Server 2003 domain populated by 4
other computers, all running XP professional SP2.

The problem arises when I try to log "back" into one of the XP Pro
Computers after logging out.

Recreation:
1> Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to log in
2> Type Username/PW, and choose domain if not already chosen
3> Login is successful
4> "Log Out"
6> Repeat steps 1 & 2
7> Login hangs at "Applying your personal settings..."
The gradient bar above the text continues moving, but there is no hard
disk activity heard or shown on the activity light in front of the PC
case.

The above situation applies when logging in to any account on the
network, including the account that you just logged out of, and
Administrator.

Thanks to anyone who answers

Howdy Omesh,

It might help researchers to know what you have done to date in order to
attempt to correct this problem, such as:

- Checked the DNS settings on the machine in question
- Run "bootvis" for diagnostic purposes

Thanks!

Also, do you have the server set up so it is the DNS server for your network?

Thanks!

I've had serious problems with Zone Alarm Pro v4 with symptoms just
like you describe. Try turning off/uninstalling the firewall and then
make sure the Microsoft firewall is turned off (disconnect from the
Internet to be safe) and try again.

Once I moved away from ZAP4 my issue disappeared. Perhaps something
like this is happening with your PC.
