HI! I jog 4 miles every morning, 6 days a week. I start jogging about
20 minutes after I wake up, and then don't eat until about an hour
after I get home. I have been doing this routine for 2 months now and
am not losing any weight or inches. I eat about 1500 calories a day.
Can you recommend whether I should start eating before I jog? Thanks
in advance for your help!

Hi artsyfartsygyrl,

Thank you for an interesting question. :)

Whether to eat or not eat before a run/jog has been a subject of
debate for many years.

Because people have different tolerances to an empty stomach you need
to experiment with this for yourself. If you do decide to eat prior
to your jog it's important to eat simple foods like fruits, breads,
and cereals. Some folks eat a tablespoon of peanut butter. Eat your
big meals after you jog. If you workout in the morning, have a good
meal the night before.

I've provided several sites that might help you decide whether to eat
or not before your early morning jog.

"When I run in the morning should I eat before or after?

I spoke with the nutritionist and trainer at the gym about this and
she said that you should eat before you run but it should be at least
one hour before and for maximum fat burning results it should be a
protein only meal and then immediately after running, eat a piece of
fruit."
