Hi charlotte123,
You can visit both places but to work there you will need a job (and
work permit) first. The work permits in both regions are applied for
by the employer for a specific job. I've copied and pasted a few
relevant sections below but please click on the links for full details
and more links to follow.
>>> UK
You need a work permit to work there and they are only applied for by
an employer while you are outside of the UK. Given that you don't need
a visa to visit the UK, you could go there for up to six months to
search for employment and then return home while the work permit
application is being processed.
Visit Visa
Criteria
1. Citizens of most Commonwealth countries ...who wish to VISIT the
United Kingdom DO NOT require prior entry clearance. They will be
admitted if the Immigration Officer is satisfied the passenger can
meet the following requirements:
a. They genuinely seek entry only as visitors for a maximum period of six months
b. They should normally have onward/return tickets
c. They have sufficient funds to support and accommodate themselves
for the duration of their stay
d. Employment is prohibited

You asked if a national of New Zealand needs a visa to come to the UK as a visitor.
No, you do not need a visa.
On arrival in the UK you must satisfy an immigration officer that you
qualify for entry to the United Kingdom as a visitor under the
Immigration Rules.

British High Commission, New Zealand
Question.
I am over 31 years old and have no connection to the UK. Is there any
way that I can go to work there?
Answer.
"If you do not have grandparents or parents born in the UK or you are
over 30 you can apply for a work permit. This has to be done through a
school/company in the UK that is willing to employ you. They apply for
the work permit for you. A useful web site for information on
shortages in the UK job market is:working in the UK"

>>> Cayman Islands
It is the same for the Cayman Islands, except you may stay for up to
one month (extensions may be applied for).
Cayman Islands Government
New Zealand citizens need a passport but do not need a visa to travel
to New Zealand.
* Visitors are normally permitted to enter and remain for up to
one month. This period may be extended; applications for an extension
must be made to the Immigration Department.
* It is against the law to work in the Cayman Islands without a
work permit. Visitors found working are arrested, tried in court and
if found guilty, fined and deported.

Work permit applications are considered by the Immigration Board,
which is appointed by Government to control the entry, residence and
employment of non-Caymanians in the Cayman Islands. Work permits are
generally issued for a specific occupation with a specific employer,
for a predetermined amount of time."

THE IMMIGRATION LAW 2003:
Work Permits, Business Staffing Plans & Transitional Provisions
Temporary work permits
"The one-month temporary and six-month, short-term, work permits have
been abolished. Instead, a temporary work permit may now be issued for
a period not exceeding six months. All such applications will be made
to, and decided by, the Chief Immigration Officer or his designate.
Since such grants are not extendable or renewable it will be important
for applicants to state clearly the length of time that the temporary
work permit will be required. In deciding whether an application
should be granted or refused, the same criteria will be used as for
the grant of a full work permit, except that employers will not be
required to advertise or to demonstrate that they operate a training
programme. Employers should also note that a temporary work permit
cannot be converted into a one-year permit. The one-year permit must
be submitted and granted prior to the expiry of the temporary permit
if the employee wishes to continue to work."
