Dear Italtony,

There are several possible answers to your question. Let me start with
a description of what Herbalife is: it is a Multilevel Marketing
Programme (MLM). That means, that you earn by recruiting others to buy
Herbalife products and market them. All businesses of this kind are
subject to criticism by many, claiming that this method is similar to
the "pyramid" marketing method: only those in the top (who have
started the business) would earn.

Beyond this problem, which really depends on your place in the chain
(which would be pretty low, considering the fact that the company has
been founded in the 1980s), and your marketing skills, there are
several other problems, specifically with Herbalife.

In 2001, the Federal Trade Commission published a valume of customer
complaints regarding Herbalife and their practices:
Herbalife-Consumer Complaints on Herbalife Corp. (as of 12/21/01)

Other sites have other pieces of information that might be alarming:

In addition, a site called Cockeyed did a calculation of the chances
of making a big business out of it:

(As part of a larger article on Herbalife. See summary here:

And full article here:
Cockeyed.com presents: Work at Home

By the way, a page by the University of Michigan health system claims
that "The Herbalife Diet Plan may cause diarrhea, nausea, heavy
sweating, headaches, and cramps." (SOURCE: Weight Loss Diets

I hope this answers your question, although I do not include in my
language term like "crap". Please contact me if you need any further
clarification on this answer before you rate it. My search terms:
herbalife site:gov, herbalife site:edu, herbalife,

Thanks very much.
