How can I see representative single figure portraits done by Michael
da Munkacsy? I have a portrait in oil, which I was told he was the
artist. However, when I do "research" on his work, most of it seems to
be of an epic or religious nature, with many figures in any given
painting.

Actually, the correct name of this important 19th century Hungarian
artist is Mihály von Munkácsy (Mihály is the Hungarian form of the
name Michael). The Békés County Department of Museums devoted a museum
and a website [1] with a gallery of original works to Munkácsy, among
