When you go into word 'open' you see on the left hand side what I
think they call the 'page bar' I read somewhere, but cant find it now,
that using regedit or some other registry editor, you can add and
delete pages up to five and sometimes to 10 if you make the font
small. Can you explain to me how to do it please?

Sorry it is not the pages bar - it is the places bar.

3. Click Tools, and then click Add to My Places.
Note You can add up to 256 items to the My Places bar.

How to Remove Items from the My Places Bar
To remove an item from the My Places bar, follow these steps: 1. On
the File menu in any Office 2003 program, click Open.
2. On the My Places bar, right-click the item that you want to remove,

Note The following default items that appear on the My Places bar
cannot be removed or renamed: ? My Recent Documents
? Desktop

I found the pages.exe download from microsoft, but when I went to
execute it in the run bar 'Regsvr32 <path>\Places.dll' it came up with
an error message. Load library"<path>\places.dll" failed. GetLastError
returns 0x00000485

I did what you said and everything worked out okay, except when I went
to tools - there was no add to my places, only add to my favourites?

You will need to follow the directions from the last site I posted for Word 2000.

That is quite tough in regedit - I have had a go but got cold feet at
the end. Perhaps if I print it out and try it at work tomorrow it will
work??
BTW what does com file stand for - combined object model and is it com
not exe because it is less than 64kb

I did all that in regedit, but it has made no difference at all??? Do
you think I should give up??

I wouldn't give up. Maybe another researcher will be able to help you.

Best of luck,

The simplest solution would be to set the display size of your pages
to 25% or less , this would show all pages in the document next to
eachother , I don't know if that is waht you are looking for

No. that is not what I am looking for. If you open, you see a page bar
on the left hand side - sometimes it has my documents, favourites,
history, desktop and web folders on it. Sometimes after installing
office word 2000, these 'pages' differ slightly. The one at work does
not have desktop on it for instance, but has another one. You can
change them by going into the registry.
