Hello xlr8s1v1ce-ga

Thank-you for your question.

The island Richard Branson owns is called Necker Island and it is
located in the British Virgin Islands (for someone who owns a company
called Virgin could this be any more appropriate?). According to
bargain-properties.cc, Branson "spotted the place, rising gently from
the sea, surrounded by coral reefs, fringed with white beaches in 1978
and spent the next 20 years developing it into his dream home."

In 1978 he paid US$303,000 for the island. It is now estimated to be
worth US$106,000,000.

There are excellent short reviews of the island here:

For the second part of your question I would like to direct you to a
couple of websites that are essentially real estate agents for
islands. They can provide you with the full details of the properties
online - this will be especially useful when you win the lottery or
inherit your millions :) - including sizes and pictures. Both sites
have properties available around the world depending on whether you
want a sunny tropical hideaway or a cold artic retreat.

Prices on Vladi-private-islands.de range from approximately $60,000
(for an island of Nova Scotia) to $50,000,000 (for an island off
Vancouver) and above. As with all real estate the prices are
determined primarily by location and size.

I hope this answer satisfies your curiosity. Should you require any
further information please do not hesitate to ask for clarification
and I will do my best to respond swiftly.

Just a note. Many people believe that Necker Island is in some remote
location away from all human habitation.

In fact, it is a very short boat ride from Virgin Gorda. Granted,
Virgin Gorda is no hopping metropolis, but it is the site of several
other resorts and from the beaches of Necker it would be a very common
site to see other boats, large and small traveling very near by.

I think that Sir Richard likes to give the impression that his Island
is far more remote than it actually is.
