What I really want is to play Mount & Blade from TaleWorlds. They have
always tell me to update my video card driver after I told them that
the game is not playable (I see the main character, background, and
other NPCs, but cannot move or see any displayed text; text sometimes
is distorted and the mouse cannot click/select it even though I know
that's where roughly the option is. The fan runs really fast and loud.
The whole game freezes, but I can switch to windows very easily and it
closes itself).
So, I have nVidia GeForce4 Go 440 64mb. Except for Toshiba's own
driver, s1953vidx.exe, that I got from its website, I could not
install other drivers--particularly ForceWare from nvidia.com website.
ForceWare just cannot find suitable video card to install its drivers.
I tried 30.82, 40.72,
77.70, 31.45, and one from Guru3D.com (and some others. Also, I did
uninstall old driver as instructed, but then always had to install
back on the official driver from Toshiba). The newest I have is 31.10
from around Aug~Oct, 2002.
I seriously think TaleWorlds is just too busy with too many bugs.
However, I would personally want a newer (and hopefully better) video
card driver. Even my old IBM with sucky graphics card could play!
If you can either find me a newer driver that work, or help me solve
the game's graphics problem, OR, as I seem to find hints on the web,
write me an absolutely detail instruction as to how to tweak the
nvidia forceware so that it recognizes my video card (is it
possible?)--all these would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
