When I go to www.Macromedia.com, www.Dodge.com, www.CNN.com (at the
top only), or www.Etro.it in MS Internet Explorer 6.0, I see flash
movies. When I go to the ame sites in Netscape 7.2 or Firefox 1.0, I
only see the "broken movie" icon.

Hi hwill-ga,
This could be because your flash plugin install is corrupted, or
because you installed the Firefox and Netscape browsers after you
installed the flash plugin.
In both cases, the problem can be solved by re-installing the
Macromedia Flash plugin:
     - Macromedia Flash Plugin for Firefox/Netscape
       (http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/windows.html#Flash)

  Hope this helps.
If you need any clarifications, just ask!

This was NOT the isssue - but the answerer did point me to the correct
page: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/faqs/flash.html. The correct answer
was "QuickTime has taken over handling Flash content" (inadequately, I
may add). I had to remove "Flash file" from the QuickTime MIME types.

I can't say I agree with hwill-ga's rating. His question was not
particularly clear, and reinstalling the offending software is 100%
the correct advice to give. I would suspect that reinstalling would
cause the Flash pluging to take back control of the MIME type anyway.

Yes, I'll admit that my question wasn't especially clear (and I'm very
embarassed about that) but I should have mentioned that I'd tried
re-installing software (browsers and Flash and QuickTime, all in
various orders, as well as removing the HOSTS file - which was
recommended for a closely related problem on Google Answers) but
without success.

And I should have given three stars to Theta-ga. Because of my error,
I've sent him or her a small tip and I hope that it compensates for my
lousy attitude.,

Ooops - I don't seem to be able to add a tip to a question. Please
send me your PayPal info and I'll forward you the tip.

I'm very glad to see it working out all around! I'm sure theta-ga
will appreciate the tip and attitude improvement. :)

Hi hwill-ga,
To err is human. (applies to both of us, I guess)
While I appreciate the thought, a tip will not be necessary.
Hope to see you on Google Answers again. :)
