how can I quickly insert regularly used text ?(my email address or
full name for example). I know I can do this in applications such as
word and excel, but I would like to be able to do it on various sites
on the web.

With the free Google Toolbar you can Automatically fill out forms on webpages:

The info that you can have Google Toolbar insert into webpages is:
- Name
- Email Address
- Primary and/or Alternative (home) Addresses
- Credit card information (password protected).
