I have a small 2 computer network which is connected via a router. I
have a VPN connection running and connected on machine1 but also need
it to be connected to the same server on machine2, can I share this
VPN link over the local network or can I can connect a second
connection to the same server from machine2?

Yes you need to change the port fowarding also if you want to make
this easy enable the vpn hardware wise
