I'm a student taking seven classes and working two jobs. One of the
jobs is as an IT Director for a student-run business. I have lots of
different things going on, all sorts of assignments due on all
different dates, both long-term and short-term. I have a lot of
trouble keeping track of things, keeping up, and planning properly.
I want a program that will allow me to:
-input everything I have to do
-specify how long I think each task will take
-specify what tasks must be completed before other can be started
-specify when each task is due
-input when I am available to work on each given day
-and most importantly, churn out daily schedules based on all this information
This summer I bought Microsoft Project 2003 Standard, and used that a
bit. It was fantastic, except that it only gave me a daily task list,
instead of a schedule, and it was kinda cumbersome.
I also use Microsoft Outlook 2003 to keep track of appointments and
some tasks. I love Microsoft Outlook's interface and would love if
this scheduling program synchronized with Outlook. I thought there
would be a way for Microsoft Project, after it had analyzed what I
input and generated daily task lists, would be able to sync those
lists with my Microsoft Outlook Tasks. I have found two methods for
doing this, a Microsoft add-in and a third party program called
Allocatus, but they both require Microsoft Project Web Access, which I
don't have.
Can you find me a time management program such as this? Or help me
configure Project Standard 2003 to fit these needs? Thanks... |
