The Department of Energy's Small Business Innovation and Research
grant program provides grants of $50,000 for primary R&D in broad
areas, with potential follow-up grants of $750,000, I think. What
other energy-related open doors are there?
Also, I've heard that the SBIR grants process can "cheat" inventors if
it wants to, by taking all government uses of the software for free.
Is this true, and will it be corrected for 2006? |

Let's not bother with how SBIR wording shoots itself in the foot, on
second thought.
Give me a list of equity-based funding sources where alternative
energy R&D is an acceptable use of the money. VC's, prizes, grants.
My feeling is that if I were a Saudi or UAE (Diner's Club) CEO, I'd be
funding energy research left and right. And, whether or not US
investment or other banks see Arab R&D as a threat and try to Marshall
Plan counter it; if China is going to bury us all in CO2 in the next
few years, one might want to develop something for their/our sakes.
(Although I raised the amount of the bid or this question, I may
cancel it and re-post it to get it back into the queue more
prominently.)
My interests are ambient thermovoltaic, gravity, "cold fusion" kinds of processes.
