Can someone tell me how many radical prostatectomies are performed
each year in the UK?

According to  Hospital Episodes Statistics (HES), 1,889 radical
prostatectomies were performed 2003- 2004.

According to Professor Hamdy, Professor of Urology, University of
Sheffield , ?in 1994 there were 37 radical prostatectomies performed
in the UK. Now we are well over 1,000, possibly reaching 2,000.?

1991 and 1999. Rates of surgery were greatest in the London National
Health Service (NHS) regions and lowest in the Trent region. Outside
London, the risk of surgery in a NHS hospital was significantly
greater for men living in the least deprived areas; in London this
trend was reversed.
